Unifier Ltd and Evidensia Eläinlääkäripalvelut Oy (former Animagi and Univet) intend to begin cooperation in May 2016. “People invest more in their pets than they did before. As a last service, people want to care for their pet with dignity until the very end. Now pet owners who are faced with losing their pets can order a Kehto pet coffin directly to the Evidensia veterinary centre,” says Head of Sales and Marketing Olli-Pekka Kinnunen.
“Sometimes, pet owners are faced with the sad decision of having to let their pet go. The most common method is euthanasia performed by a veterinarian. It is always stressful and emotional and highlights the bond between pets and owners, including the owner’s desire to treat a beloved family member with respect during the final journey. Through this cooperation project we are able to offer pet owners this opportunity when the final moment does come,” says Olli-Pekka Kinnunen.
“Evidensia is the most extensive and diverse network of vets and veterinary clinics in Finland. Our hospitals only offer the best treatment and care for pets, provided by the best special experts in Finland in all areas of care. We want to be a full-service establishment and our cooperation with Unifier adds value to our services by allowing us to offer pet owners the opportunity to say goodbye to their pet in a dignified way,” says Procurement Manager Outi Ahlström of Evidensia Eläinlääkäripalvelut.
Owners saying goodbye to their pets can now order a Kehto burial product to be delivered directly to an Evidensia veterinary clinic. “We will begin cooperation with the clinics in the Helsinki metropolitan area and intend to expand burial product availability to Evidensia veterinary clinics all around Finland,” says Olli-Pekka Kinnunen.
The pet owner and vet always agree on pet euthanasia in advance, to be performed by appointment. Kehto burial products can be pre-ordered to an Evidensia veterinary clinic or the pet owner’s home.
“After the euthanasia procedure, pet owners can take their pet with them, or, if they are unable to deliver the pet to be cremated, leave the pet at our reception to be preserved in Kehto and picked up by an animal cremation
service,” says Outi Ahlström.
“Kehto is a safe and durable product also suitable for transportation. It is often used to transport pets that have passed away, either by a crematorium pick-up service or using public transport,” says Olli-Pekka Kinnunen.
“While cremation is the most common method of pet burial, many pet owners want their own yard or summer cottage yard to serve as the final resting place for their pet; ecological Kehto products are also suitable for in-ground burial.”
The Kehto product family includes six different sizes for pets from the smallest reptiles, birds and rodents to dogs weighing up to 80 kilograms. In late 2015, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office finally granted the Kehto product range protected design status in accordance with the Registered Designs Act. Kehto is designed and manufactured in Finland.
